DHUL HIJJAH, DAY OF ARAFAH & EID-UL-ADHA INFORMATION

The moon has been sighted here in the UK this evening and the month of Dhul Qa’dah has come to an end. Tomorrow marks the 1st of Dhul Hijjah and the blessed Day of Arafah will be on Thursday the 5th of June inshallah.

Therefore, Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated on *Friday the 6th of June* with two jama’ahs taking place at Al-Hayat Centre on the day inshallah. The first at 9am and the second at 10am inshallah. Please do join us with your families on the day inshallah. We welcome men, women and children on this auspicious occasion.

Additionally, the Day of Arafah is one of the most special days of the year and fasting during it is highly recommended. So let’s not allow this opportunity to go to waste.

EID UL FITR ANNOUNCEMENT

The moon has been been sighted locally AND regionally this evening. Therefore, Wednesday 10th of April will mark the start of the month of Shawwal and the day of Eid-ul-fitr Insha’Allah.

A special congratulations to our beloved brothers who have been sitting I’tekaaf at the centre. May Allah accept your noble prayers and reward you abundantly.

This year, we will be holding 2 jama’ahs for Eid inshallah. The 1st Jama’ah will be held at 9:00am and the 2nd will be at 10:00am inshallah. The Khutbahs for both will begin half an hour beforehand and will be led by Shaykh Rizwan Hussain Al-Azhari. Please do join us with your families on this blessed occasion.

At Al-Hayat Centre, we all wish you a most blessed and joyous Eid. Please keep the Centre and its congregants in your pious prayers and do continue to support our Youth Centre initiative.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: ZAKATUL FITR/FITRANA

The Prophet ﷺ said;

_The fast of the month of Ramadan will remain suspended between the skies and the earth until the zakat of the fasts is paid_

The fitrana (zakatul fitr) is incumbent on every member of the family, regardless of age and financial status, and is due before the Eid prayer inshallah. The purpose of this zakat is to cleanse us of our mistakes and shortcomings during the observance of fasting in Ramadan.

The amount due is £5 per person and any contribution given to Al-Hayat Centre will be passed on to a local charity (Rays of Hope) to provide food and gifts on Eid to the poor and needy in war-torn areas inshallah. You can either make this payment in cash when you come for any of the prayers (charity box labelled ‘Zakatul Fitr’ in reception), or alternatively, you can send it to the charity account and we will make sure the funds are transferred over on the day.

YOUTH IFTAR & I’TEKAAF

Yesterday, Al-Hayat Centre arranged a Youth Iftar & I’tekaaf for teenagers who took part in our Taraweeh, spent time with Shaykh Rizwan holding formal and informal talks/Q&A’s, assisted in arranging and preparing the food for Iftar, and leading their own as well as, participating in the Qiyamul Layl. There was also time for them to enjoy a game or two on the PlayStation before resting up for the night.

Just last week, we were blessed with 60-70 kids between the ages of 5-12 for the Ramadan Workshop and Children’s Iftar and that too, was a resounding success with students really enjoying their time here.

We will keep offering these types of services and youth facilities and it is precisely because of this, we are looking for your support to purchase Unit 4 and set up as the 1st Islamic ethos-inspired Youth Centre in Southampton. We have 10 Musallas remaining and we aim- at the very least- to complete those sponsorships by the end of this month inshallah.

Dear brothers & sisters,

At Al-Hayat Centre we will be completing the recital of the Quran on Monday 8th of April corresponding to the 29th night of Ramadan, inshallah.

Our honoured guest Shaykh Luqman Ul Hakim Bin Marzuki has done an absolutely fantastic job facilitating this honour for us all. Shaykh Luqman has diligently led the Taraweeh, Qiyamul Layl including the rest of the prayers, and will continue to do so until the end of this blessed month. May Allah reward our Qaris abundantly for their hard work, dedication and the resilience they have shown, and love for the Quran they have inspired in the hearts of the congregants.

So please do join us for Isha prayer (9:20pm) followed by Taraweeh and then Qiyamul Layl at 3am, today to the end of Ramadan. Please do bring the children on the Khatm so we can provide them with gifts and refreshments inshallah. It will be a nice experience for them.

I’TEKAAF (SPIRITUAL RETREAT) AT AL-HAYAT CENTRE 2024

Ali Ibn Hussain (ra) narrates from his father that the Prophet ﷺ said: “He who observes the ten days I’tikaf during Ramadan will obtain the reward of two Hajj & two Umrah.” (Bayhaqi)

Ibn Abbas (RA) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said, (about him who engages in i’tikaf), “that he is safe from sin & he also gets that reward which everyone (outside of i’tikaf) gets for pious deeds.” (Ibn Majah)

What an amazing opportunity for us to gain such immense & abundant rewards, as well as proximity to Allah and His Messenger. Alongside the extensive reward, this is a unique and wonderful opportunity to strengthen & boost our imaan (faith) for the rest of the year.

AL-HAYAT RAMADAN WORKSHOP 2024

VIRTUES OF RAMADAN & KIDS IFTAR

This coming Saturday 30th of March between 3:30-7:30pm, Al-Hayat Centre will be holding its annual Ramadan Workshop which has in its first 2 years, hosted over 200 young children. Last year also saw the release of our _Children’s Ramadan Book & Journal_- our very own publication and a must have for every parent. Inshallah, we will have more copies available this Workshop as well.

The spaces are limited and we encourage all parents with children between the ages of 5–12 to apply as soon as possible and register their interest. The cost of the Workshop is £15 with an additional £5 for the Children’s Book. Contact us for more information and complete the application form.
